can any one please tell me if it is possible to transfer dcs developed in one track to another.

vln
Hi Lakshmi,
I believe there is no direct way of transferring DC's from one Dev Config to another. You will have to do some manual activities for this.

Hi Lakshmi,
All yu have to do is a create a DC in the new Dev Config and then in the package explorer view manually copy and paste the packages and the files from the old DC to the new one.
Hope this is helpful.Do let me know if you are not able to do the same i will then send some screenshots if you want.

I have a question pertaining to this.
Can you copy the Software Components from one track to another in scenario 2+?
If yes, then all the DCs belonging to that SC get copied automatically.
Is my understanding correct? or there is no direct way to copy the SC from one track to another?
Thanks,
Kiran
Hi Kiran,
The way to "copy" SCs from one track to another is to transport them by a "forward" operation. You first need to Assemble and Approve the SCs in the source track, and then Forward the SCs to the target track. You can find the Forward button in the "History" view of the Approval Tab (in CMS Transport Studio).
I'm currently writing an article that explains some branching patterns and use-cases (and this topic is explained in greater detail). It should be available this week - I'll update this thread once it is published.

Manohar
