SAP/MES implementation

Group,

Based in the documentation and examples on XMII seems like XMII becomes the way to transalate data using B2MML schemas. If so, is this the only way available to integrate SAP ECC 6.0 with MES systems ? Why if the XMII application is not available, which choices we have to the the translations to B2ML and integrate both systems ?

Thanks

This is not the only way for B2MML flow between MES and ECC.

You can use XI also to process B2MML(it is just a XML format)

IDOC or BAPI can be used ECC side and file adapter would be fine to pick a B2MML.

Could you provide more details on your integration ?

Thanks & Regards

Good luck with using XI for that...much more complex to implement than xMII, and still requires some type of "middleware" to manage store-and-forward, message handling, and local business logic at the plant site (you certainly wouldn't want to be placing XI instances all over the place).

No reason to re-invent the wheel! Using xMII is in the customer's best interest (though it doesn't alway seem to be in the consultant's best interest, since it reduces the number of billable hours substantially).

Very true Rick

XI is a option for integration part only not for Business intelligence. It can be nicely played by xMII.

XI is long way n round appoach.

If the xMII application is not available then we have to design an application which does the same thing

I'm not sure if we can do that as there are various authorization levels in SAP and MES. so the data manipulation/retrieval can only be done based on those authorizations. So one has to do the authentication/authorization at different levels to access the data which will be almost like creating a new application. There would be many more issues that will come across as it will challenge the security of SAP ERP.
