File Adapter c:/temp

Hello,

I am able to save /tmp in unix server, but unable to save to c:/temp

Is it possible to save to C:/temp?

Is there a setup that I need to save it to C:/temp

If you are talking about windows OS then definitely you can but not like C:\XXXX (but like //sharedfolder/XXXX where sharedfolder is folder name which is shared )for this you need to share the directory with appropriate permissions and have to put the file there as FIle adapter works in two fashion:

1. FTP : Which you were able to use in UNIX

2. NFS : Like the way you want to use now, but for this you need to share the folder with appropriate permissions and use the parameters in communication channels.

In the configuration of File Adapter, the following settings are made.

1. Protocol File system ( NFS)

2. Message protocol File

---><b>3. target directory //localhost/wds</b>

Write the target directory directly //wds

and have you mentioned the IP address of system from where you want to pick/post the file or not..?that is a must.

4. file name wds.txt

5. File construction Create

6. Overwrite existing file - Checked

I have activated the adapter. The monitor for XML message - Message processed ICON is shown.

Can you explain , whether the steps that I have explained above to make a directory shared is correct and if not, please could you provide a few more steps.

Your message was very helpful. I was not able to complete. Here is what I have done and please verify.

I created a directory in c ( windows os ) drive as wds.

In the explorer select the directory wds -> context menu-> properties

1. selected Share this folder

2. Permission - full control.

I do see the directory as shared .

The folder you created C:\XXX then made this as shared, is this folder you created on your client machine or server?

if it is the server then in the fdirectory apth in file adatper just give C:\XXX, if you have creaetd this on your client system and chared it then XI cannot pick using NFS.

Hi William,

Additionally, setup user-id SAPServiceSID on the Win server and ensure that the passwords are the same on both servers.

The target directory //server/shared_folder should work.

Yes, you are correct. One should not save the file in /tmp or C:/temp.

But, for learning purpose, I was trying to save the file in /tmp on the unix server. This works ok.

But, I would like to save in c:/temp or c:/xxxx ( where xxxx is a directory name ). I could not save to any directory in c drive.

So my question was how could I save the file in a directory in c drive.

Hope I am a little more clearer.

In unix there is nothing like a 'c' drive.

So store it in /tmp, that is fine.

Usually you do not save to /tmp or c:/temp.

You define a new directory and save your files there. Enter in the file adapter settings the directory path.
