Cheers,
Kannan.
hi,
you define business system when you communicate with r/3
or with some other "system"
business system
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/7b/d4653fd1d3b81ae10000000a114084/content.htm
you can use service if you want to connect with ftp server for instance (so not a real system)
service:

Hi Kannan,
In simple term, if you are connecting to any system within your landscape (so it has to have entries in the SLD and you need to cater for while migrating from Dev to Test and Prod) then you configure that in the BUSINESS SYSTEM, if not its the business services. Business services are like connecting to the party's web services, ftp servers etc.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Ranjan
