Can't add library to public part of library DC

Former Member

I've got a really strange problem here.

I've created a library component DC, and I've imported some jar files into the folder structure. When I right click on the jar file and select Development Component / Add to Public part, I get....nothing. No dialog box, nothing.

I've tried running in console mode, but there are no errors displayed.

I'm working without a JDI, so the DC is in the LocalComponent SC.

Anyone have any ideas?

Brain cramp.

I needed to create an 'External Library' DC instead of a J2EE LibraryDC. Once I did that, I was able to populate the public part. Duh.

As an aside, how can you edit the setup of the external library DC? There doesn't seem to be a GUI way to alter the public part paramters - or is it assumed we won't make a mistake when we first define the public part?

Unfortunately it is indeed not possible to manage entities of type 'Archive' which is used for external library. I.e. if you need to delete a wrongly added entity (archive) you have to open the corresponding .pp file in the 'def' folder and use a standard text editor. Other aspects like changing the caption or description can be done when selecting the PP node itself and opening the properties view.

You can always delete and recreate a public part....
