If it is MDM Server or any other, was your XI directly communicate
with it or thru any Adapter it's communicates??

using proxy....i min using XI adpater u can communicate.I dont think direct communication is possible like R/3

It depends on the requirement to which system you have to integrate.
for MDM we can use proxies.

for others it depends on requirement nand can be achived through diff. adapters.
Say:
● Communicate with SAP systems using the RFC interface (RFC adapter)
● Enable data exchange with the SAP Business Connector (SAP Business Connector adapter)
● Exchange data with systems by using a file interface or an FTP server (file/FTP adapter )
● Access databases using JDBC (JDBC adapter)
● Communicate with messaging systems using the JMS API (JMS adapter)
● Integrate remote clients or Web service providers using the SOAP adapter (SOAP adapter )
● Connect e-mail servers to the PCK (mail adapter)
● Exchange data with SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI adapter)

proxies also helps in data exchange btw mdm and xi
