Real time interface between SAP and Informatica

Can Informatica support a real time (or near real time interface ) between SAP and other systems?

If so how do they go about doing this? RFC Or IDOC?

my company is pushing to use informatica instead of XI and I would like to build a case for XI

Yes the Informatica will be used in SAP(While implementation) mainly for data migration. Because the Data migration is expensive and time consuming, so in some senaroius where companies doesnt go for migrating every module into SAP, only some modules will be migrated. In this case the data migration will take place periodically. Improtant tool used in this cases are informatica
