New Product Requirement

Hi,

We are in the process of finalizing our blue print,Need more

clarification on the features with relate to "New Product

development". It has been identified as not a standard feature of

SAP,would like to know the solution from your end.

our core business falls in the category of tyres trading,Very often our salesman

identifies a particular Size is of great demand in the market.They will

be communicating the same thru sales hierachy. As a process our

procurement department will circulate the same to all the salesman and

consolidate the requirements. They will approach the vendors to fulfill

the same requirement , if available they will procure the same.

If procurement identified it as a need for new product developement

and the required quantity is high they will forward the same to our

technical department for the fulfillment of the technical data.They

will analyze the feasibility and suggest the top management to invest

on the same since we have our own brand. Once the product line is

approved the same requirement will become the forecast of the year.

Would like to know the possibility of mapping the same with SAP as

per the industry standards .

Hi,

For the new product line if you can use it as make to sale order scenario. When you get the requirement from your sales department put that requirement in MD61 then generate MRP for that in customizing you define a new order type for purchase say ZNPD and assign it in MRP parameters for external procurement. Then system will generate PO with this Order type only. So this way you can track PO qty against sales order.

If above case is not suitable then simply use make to stock scenario simply define a separate order type especially used to procure raw material for new product. so in report w.r.t. to order type of PO you can track various purchased quantity and use same method for sale order define a new sale order type only to sale new product line.
