From what I understand, in order to run ADS with iSeries, you need to configure a Windows server(or another server that ADS will run on) and install a new Java App Server on it. Am I right so far?
Has anyone else had to configure ADS, and how did you do it? Any tips will be great, because right now I am still a little lost on where to get started.
Hi Chris,
yes, you are correct, you need ABAP & Java on the i5 (at least Java) and then you could install a windows appl server and run it there. This one needs to have the same config => ABAP & Java as well. It is just an installation of a dialog instance.
Then you point the ADS to this windows server. You do need one ADS in your enterprise only - what I want to say: You do NOT need an ADS for each instance ...
There is a white paper in this forum area for ADS as well ...

In this case I really wonder, why it's ALWAYS installed on a new installation and ALWAYS in the support packages stacks, would save a lot of resources if it wouldn't be

Hi Markus,
that question is fully correct !
... especially as this patch has a size of about 400 MB ...
But: It belongs to AS Java and that is the reason ...
