map vs std price

Former Member

hi gurus,

1) what is the difference for moving average price and std price? i read that map is for raw mats whereas std price for semi to finished goods.

so what actually is map and std price?

2) when there is a price difference during gr and ir, the difference will put in variance account. is it same like price difference account?

3) price difference account is p&l right? so it is expense or revenue?

4) i was told sometimes the difference can be inventorised but sometimes put in price difference account. what is the difference?

thanks

Hi,

MAP is Total Value/ Total Qty

Generally we maintain moving average price for Raw material in Materail master data , Accouting Tab

When we receive goods and if there is a change in pirce it will update the mateial master data immediately.

Standard Price:

Which is there in Materail master data, Accounting tab.

when we receive goods and if there is a change in the price it will go to PRice diffrence account. Material master data will not going to change, even though price has changed.,, where as in Moving average price it will update Materail master data.

In case of updation of Material master data for Standard price we use Standard cost estimate at the monthe end.

Hi,

1. Simply in accounting language MAP is nothing but your weighted average cost and standard price is standard cost

Generally sap recommends for inhouse producded goods you choose STD and procured goods you use MAP. SO raw material is externally procured thats why MAP and semi finished goods and finished goods are in house produced so STD price.

2. I have alrady clarified in your other query. Pleasase refer to that

3.Absolutely Price difference is a P& L account. depends upon balance can not categorise Expenses or revenue , but CE category will be 1 ( generally for expense)

4. I have already explained in your other thread.

Hope clear

Cheers
