Hello Folks,
I want to increase the size of extended memory from RZ10 using paramter em/initial_size_MB in the instance profile, but when I increased it from 2264 MB to 4264 MB, my system did not come up after restarting....
In MMC, it showed, disp+work.exe was yellow in colour with message "Could not connect to Message Server".
Message Server and rest all the processes were in green and running...
Other parameters....
PHYS_MEMSIZE=4264 MB (size of physical ram)
I reverted back to my old profile to start the system...
Can anyone tell me how do I increase my extended memory and how Extended block parameter is related with each other?
Appreciate your reply....
thanks in advance..

Hi Satyajit,
SAP has a concept of zero memory management on windows.
Please check the following topic.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/84/7ed384d81f11d188be0000e83539c3/frameset.htm
Also when you change profile parameters related to memory, you should generally run sappfpar to check if the settings are okay , before stopping /starting the server.

Siddhesh

Hello Sid,
I got the point....
I shud check on command line for the same..before restarting
But I am keen to knw how to increase extended memory since I have seen to many swaps happening in ST02 - Buffer monitor.

I have increased my RAM size from 2 GB to 4 GB for occuring swaps which is the reason I want to increase extended memory also...
Also, in instance profile the abap/buffersize is 450000 KB and in ST02 its showing below entries --
Hit Ratio Allocated(KB) Free Space(KB) % Dir Size Entries
Program 95.19 200,000 2,919 1.51 50,000
If am not wrong, the entries in ST02 shud also show 450 MB
Can you please guide me how do I go for it and let me know if you need any other data?
Thanks and appreciate your help,
SAT
Hi Satyajit,
Regarding memory sizing, its best that you choose the parameters for yourself, its good fun !
if you face a problem while choosing a configuration you can post your questions here as new posts.
