Hi Gurus,
We are using MTO(make-to-strategy) scenario. Here while doing the Sales order we are doing the costing run.
My question is why we do the costing run in the sales order?

Hi,
Generally costing team will run every month standard cost for each material.you can find this data in MM03 tcode and costing2 view.

Hi,
There are two types of scenarios in business
1. made to stock
and
2. made to order
In made to stock scenario the material components and processing cost is known and does not vary from order to order. Hence if u take a costing run once it serves the purpose and you are not required to run costing for every order. Here cost comes in sales order through condition type VPRS.
In made to order scenario each sales order may have different raw material combination and different processing cost. Hence you need to take costing run for every individual order. Here cost comes in sales order through condition type EK01 or EK02.
