PPDS stable forward scheduling heuristic giving unexpected results

Hi,

What is the most commonly used Heuristic used in Prod planning run in SAP APO if you want to do capacity levelling and sequence the orders accordingly ? I am using stable forward scheduling heuristic but it is pulling all orders forward. Is there a better heuristic I can use ? It is also touching the orders that are within planning time fence. Could there be a reason for this as SAP tells that nothing can change orders within time fence but this is not happening ?

Hi,

The heuristic used in PP/DS depends on the business requirement.

you can use,

1. stable forward scheduling

2. DS heuristics

3. PP/DS optimizer

The results of each will vary and you need to decide on the business requirements.

Stable forward scheduling heuristic can reschedule the orderss within the planning time fence as well. In fact, any scheduling heuristic can reschedule the orders which are within the planning time fence. As per SAP, orders within the planning time fence cannot be changed.That means, orders within the planning time fence cannot be deleted using the heuristic. However, these orders can be rescheduled.
