license question

Hi

We are planning to implement BI, EP, ECC.

So does the cost of the product depends on the number of users?

is that how the system is licensed?

Is it true if I say the that the total cost will be more if the number of users are higher? Please help me undestand.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi,

Each customer has a different contract with SAP but, usually, you are right the price increases with the number of users and the type of users.

You have to "classify" the users depending of their role and therefore it gives a price for their usage.

Thanks Oliver!

Can you please explain what do you mean by classify the users depending on the role? What are the different kinds of users? Can you give me an example if possible?

Thanks again

Hi Mike,

You can use transaction USMM to measure you system.. that will give you a list of the current users and the license types.

Mike,

Juan is right : have a look at transaction USMM.

In fact when you create a user with SU01, you have a screen called "Licence Data" where you choose the "Contractual User Type" .

Some example types are :

01 Operationnal User

02 Information User

05 Only asis User

and so on...

Every year, SAP asks us a licence audit : We must give them the result of the report from transaction USMM. They check if we pay "the right price" ! (for them...)

Regards,

Olivier
