problem with alerts in the alert inbox

Hi experts,

I have configured AE alerts and I wanted to display the Error details as in RWB in the alert as well. With the help of SDNers in the thread

I added SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT in the container.

Now, alerts are getting generated and I could see the value for error description in the report alrtdisp for the alert generated as:

<i>java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/sap/workdir/output.txt (Permission denied (errno:13))</i>

but the alert in the alert inbox displays a blank in place of this description.

any clues?

Hi Amol,

If I am not wrong, Alerts are coming in Alert Inbox, but the description field is blank?

Hi,

check the Alert catagory first,i odnt think u will not get the Alert discription if u get the Alert in Alert inbox.

For test Purpose:

in the Alert Category-go to tab - <b>Long and short Text</b>-><i>Message Tittle</i> and write some text there.

You have to receive the same Text in Alert Inbox(Description)...if you are getting this then give the container name in the Message tittle like

Error Occured for Message ID : &SXMS_MSG_GUID&

So in ALert Inbox description u will get : Error Occured for Message ID : MessageID from XI

yes.

if i view the same alert in the transaction alrtdisp then the alert container is populated with the exact description as in RWB but when I view it in Alert inbox in the browser, the same value is not displayed.

I am not sure if the following is the root cause of this but:

when I added the container SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT element to the alert category I did the following configuration:

<b>Element :</b> SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT

<b>Name:</b> SXMS_ADAPTER_ERRTXT

I had to give the name as SXMS_ADAPTER_ERRTXT instead of SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT because the name field doesnt allow the entry with the length of SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT

In the long text I replaced &SXMS_ADAPTER_ERRTXT& with &SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT& and it worked.

But as per your query you was talking about the Description(in Alert Inbox)...instead of Long Text:-) Currect me if I am wrong?
