Moving to MDM?

Hi,

I am working as abap technical. I am planning to move to MDM. Can anyone put some light on what will be role for abap technical in MDM.?

hi,

it's not only ABAP API - as all SAP systems must exchange data with MDM

so you can do lots of other things:

- create extractors for MDM master data objects in SAP ERP, CRM systems

- enhance master data IDOCs (like MATMAS, DEBMAS, CREMAS)

with some additional fields (IDOC outbund)

- create/update master data objects (with customer enhancements) - IDOC inbound

so there's pretty much you can with ABAP and MDM

as MDM is not only MDM server but also master data source systems

and companies that will have MDM will also have other sap systems

Hi,

As Michal pointed out ABAP Technical skill will be usefull in extractors and more over the Knowledge which you have gained in ABAP is always usefull for any SAP product.

Hi Sa_R,

usually the abap work on MDM is related to the abap MDM API. APIs permits to have more flexibility in Data Management.

However MDM is recommended for Java developers, but in my opinion it's not very important.
