Hi!
We have SAP EP version 6 and planning to upgrade it to EP 7. We are using Biller direct ver 3.0 and XI ver 3 as well.
I would like to know whether there are any significant issues in this upgrade that we should be aware of. Specially any dependencies of R3 system requirements, Biller Direct and XI .
I would like to here from people who have already have experience of doing this upgrade in their EP environment.
Also would like to know the stability of EP7 compare to EP6 .
Ramesh
Hi Ramesh,
We can upgrade from EP 6.0 to EP 7.0. EP 7.0 has good functionality. It will support all the EP 6.0 content also.
we will get enhanced functionality with KM and Trex.
EP 7.0 supports Federated Portal Network(FPN). Its nothing but Global Portal which is used to integrate all the portal and administer centrally.
Biller direct and XI 3.0 will not affect in anyway.

Hi!
There should be no need to upgrade the R/3 systems, but if you're using very unusual features it's always a good idea to verify everything is working fine before touching the production systems.
SAPGUI is of no importance to the Portal as the Portal users are connecting with browsers, nor SAPGUI.

Jörg
Hi Ramesh,
SAP EP7 will use the old iviews to connect to the R/3 system without problem.
We don't use Biller direct and XI, but we have ESS/MSS.
We went from EP6 SP2 to EP7, and we did not have to update ESS/MSS.
You may need to reimport your certificate from portal to ERP via STRUSTSSO2.
Only when you update the R/3 to ERP that you need to update portal part.
EP7 is very stable if you install all patch level of you support package.
