Material master replication of additional fields

When doing the material master replication we would like to have 2 additional fields replicated from the material master in R/3 to SRM. These 2 fields are:

X-plant material status (MARA-MSTAE) and external material group (MARA-EXTWG). How can we include these 2 fields in the replication? The status field should go into the status field in SRM and the external material group field should go into the product category field in SRM (normally the material group goes into this field). How can we handle this?

Since problems frequently occur during the asynchronous update, the synchronous update of objects class MATERIAL and BBP_MATERIAL is recommended (see Transaction SM30 SMOFSUBTAB).
