HI Arun,

Thanks a lot man!! I think our network team is using public IP not private. well, It really nice talking to you and I really clear my concept so far except one more question since I was reading whole day yesterday, the question is :

saprouter -r -S <port> -K "p: <b><Your Distingiushed Name>"</b>

What is my Distinguished name would be? It is like host name of the server or it could be any?

Thanks, and I appreciate your help!!

Dear Afi,

You will get your system distinguished name from the service market place.

Login to the following url with S-user id.

https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/saprouter-sncadd

Now click on<b> Apply now</b> under SAProuter certificate

There you can see your distinguished name of saprouter under

<u>Distinguished Name (parameter for SAPGENPSE)</u> .

Regards,

Arun

Sorry, One more question,

I was reading your previous posts, and you have mentioned to start saprouter the the following way...

<b>saprouter -r -S <port> -K "p: <Your Distingiushed Name>"</b>

My question is for the port, do I have to add or do any configuration on port side?

Thanks,

You are the man ARUN,

Just to clear things, I have one more question.

1. As you said, we need 2nd network card (ip external, and ip internal) and I understand why you said that. It is perfectly fine. But, I was looking at my existing Router, It does have two NIC cards, but one of them is disabled.. so, I just wanted to confirm is that the only way to go for or there is another way of doing this?

Thanks,

Dear Afi,

So rite now your saprouter is having only one IP.

Is it public IP or private IP.I assume that your SAP server is having a private ip.

Then how is it possible to access the SAP server from the saprouter.

After all SAP is accessing your server via the saprouter.

Another solution is to make the present IP of your SAP server to a public ip.

Dont change the ip adress.Try to make the present as a Private ip

<b>saprouter -r -S <port> -K "p: <Your Distingiushed Name>"</b>

here the port is 3299

Sap is using this port for OSS.

So you need to open this port in the firewall and make sure that

this port is not blocked anywhere.

Hi Afi,

No ,you dont need a VPN connection for the SAPOSS.

Since you are installing a saprouter for backup ,

1)The first thing you need to do, is to send a customer message to SAP

Support (component XX-SER-NET-OSS-NEW) and tell them to register

the hostname and IP(public ip) of our new Saprouter.

2)You need two network cards(One with public ip and one private ip).

With the public IP SAP will connect to your new saprouter

With the help of private IP ,from saprouter they can connect to your R/3 system.

3)For SNC please go throgh the following link

http://service.sap.com/saprouter-sncdoc

Dear Afi,

I hope your router system is having two network cards with one public ip and one private ip.

For OSS connectivity we need to configure the saprouter with snc. Also in saprouttab we need to enable sapsev(n)s ip else give p<tab><tab><tab>*

Then you need to start the router system using the command

saprouter -r -S <port> -K "p: <Your Distingiushed Name>"

Now check the saposs rfc connectivity from sm59.If it is working fine means the physical connection is ok.

Now you need to open the logical connection from service.sap.com --> connect to SAP

click on the Maintain connection button

Now select the required system(Note if your system is not there u need to add the system the service market place with the router.)

Click on R/3 support.

There you can define the connection time.

Click on Start service connector.

Then one file will download (stfk.oez)..Put this file to the router and double click on it.It will show the status as "The service connection has been opened successfully"

Now click on the Yes button the service market place.

After some time the connection status will change its status to connected.

Arun
