power support

We are currently running 46c on sles8 and oracle 9.2.0.4 32-bit.

We wish to :

a) move to 64-bit power platform with sles10 and oracle10.

b) Upgrade from 46c to ERP 2005 (not unicode).

Can you please confirm if the power platform is supported for our

environment ?

We did a test upgrade by following note 939406 which is for x86.

Is there a similar note available for power ?

If not how can we execute step a ?

The only installation cdrom I found is : 51020565 for sap kernel

46d_ext 64 bit.

Does this support power ?

I did not find any patches for this kernel for power ?

Do they exist and if so where ?

It looks like there is no power support available for running kernels 4.x.

This would mean that I would first have have to upgrade to ERP 2005 with kernel 7.x on an X86 machine and then do a system copy to my new power server ?

Hi Erikur,

Correct, support of Linux on IBM System p (fka as Linux on POWER) starts with 640-based products. There is no support for 4.x based systems.

That's a possible solution.

Some important OSS notes which might be interesting:

- 171356 (you probably know this one...)

- 865307 (Installing ABAP 6.40 application server on Linux)

- 1092448, 975196 (needed for the installation of Oracle)

Best regards,

Elmar.
