Hi
Does anyone have information on how to utilize this feature?
I have added "Client Systems" & "Ports" in the console.
I configured the "Client System as follows:
Name: SAP
Code: SAP
Client System: Import/Export
Key Generation: None
I configured the Port as follows:
Name; in from SAP
Code; NewPort (automatically generated)
Type: inbound
Data Definition: Flat Text
Client System: MDM
Where do I need to put the file I need to import?
When connecting using the Import Manager I get the following error;
"Login Error: Invalid port "data definition.
Thanks
Charles
Charles,
I think the client name you have given is SAP. However while creating the port you are giving the client name as MDM.
Try changing that.

Ravi

Hi Charles,
yes, I tried it and it works. I am using SP02 Build 5.5.24.04 ...
Now I see the mistake: Currently creating a port is only possible for "import" or "export" client systems (not for "import/export". Change this e.g. to "import" and you will be able to create a "import" port.
This is already reported to SAP Development and is fixed in the next released SP02 Patch.
-BTW--
Using Ports has two mayor advantages:
- Predefined folder structure under the server directory for message exchange with XI
- No need for direct file system access from the machine where Import Manager or Syndicator runs (instead: Connect to port)

Andreas

Hi Charles,
the configuration of Ports in MDM is part of the MDM 5.5 SP02 Configuration Guide. It is available on service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP NetWeaver -> Release 04 -> Installation -> SAP MDM
