HI ALL,

While installing IDES I received the error " oracle was not properly installed, install oracle first." .

These steps were followed at the time of installation:

1> Installed Windows 2003 Standard R2 x64.

2> Install jdk1.4.x, set the enviroment variable JAVA_HOME

3> Install Oracle Database from RDBMS DVD (D51031678) by run the sapserver.cmd

After installing the Oracle, found that no starter database was created

by oui(Oracle Universal Installer) also no net configuration wasn't done by oui, only sqlplus was

configured and register as system service.

4>Install Oracle patch from RDBMS DVD (D51031725) by clicking on setup.exe,

5>Run the IDES BSI (D51032419) startinst.cmd, but unable to connect

21212 on localhost, again run the sapinst.exe. Selecting the ERP >

Oracle> central instanceAfter selecting all necessary module the

installer throughing error

PLEASE HELP. THNX IN ADVANCE

you are using 64 Bit operating system and therefore you have to use

64 Bit Oracle RDMBS software

64 Bit SAP SAPInst Software.

sapinst looks into the registry to find out on which directories Oracle is installed.

The information is stored in the windows registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software.

As 32 bit programs will access the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Wow6432Node when accessing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software, mixing of 32 and 64 bit application accessing this registry key will not be possible.

please check whether you are using pure 64 Bit environment.

oracle instance and database will be installed by sapinst (= step after having installed the oracle software) => so that's OK

did you use the same user to install both oracle and sap?

which IDES are we talking about?

oracle is 10g is presume?

do you have a valid installation guide at hand?

any moire specig´fic information tahn "oracle was not installed properly"? what about sapinst_dev.log? (but only the interesting part...)
