Hello to everyone,

While trying to start DB I got message:

-24988 sql error [db_worm -f] -8888, connection broken

I have this log in KNLDIAG:

2007-11-08 14:16:15 0xFAC ERR 53007 CONFIG ILLEGAL DATA DEV SIZES

2007-11-08 14:16:15 0xFAC ERR 53007 CONFIG RestartRec: Max Data Pno: 889983

2007-11-08 14:16:15 0xFAC ERR 53007 CONFIG Config: Max Data Pno: 942335

I'm just beginner in SAPDB and I can not find any resolution for that error.

Hope sb can help.

Thanks in advance !!!

What did you prior to the startup? did you copy datafiles over?

Before startup, new volume was added to DB. (DB was almost out off free space)

did you add a new volume or did you increase the size of a current one? Check in knldiag which volume makes the problem.

Increasing of existing DB was made.

There is more info from knldiag - but no info about problems:

I thing that there should be 942335 in RestartRec: Max Data Pno: 889983 because there is 18 devspace 52352 pages each one....but I dont know have to set up this parameter.

Hello Michal.

could you please explain how exactly you were adding the new data volume? Which command(s) did you use?

The error looks as if you just changed the configuration file but did not actually add a new data volume.

Hi Melanie,

It was done with SAP DB GUI just by (configuration->volumes->new volumen). It always goes ok - but this time no.....

Hi sathya20075,

I do not think you are facing the same issue.

Please note that MaxDB does not support Windows file compression for its volumes and I guess thhe Data/Log Volumes are currently compressed by Windows.
