Is Maxdb closed source now?

I noticed that after the termination of the agreement between SAP and MySQL, the source code for MaxDB seems unavailable. Is MaxDB now closed source/proprietary?

I think so (but I don´t know exactly).

We were running an in-house application on Solaris x86 (32bit) for what I was building binaries using the CVS repository. One day, the distribution of the 7.6 version stopped, 7.5 and the buildtools are still available on CVS but 7.6 is not.

I think the latest available 7.6 version is 7.6.0.36 (or 37).

I believe they changed the license back from GPL to some non open source license. Maybe someone from the MaxDB team can give a statement on this.

I hope there would be some way to get a definitive answer to this question. Perhaps someone from SAP will have a chance to respond.

"In October 2007, SAP assumed full sales and support for MaxDB. MaxDB 7.6 is now closed source, and available free of charge for non-SAP applications. There is no commercial support available"

Thank you for pointing out this information.

I think this is a very sad development, and I hope SAP might

choose to explain itself regarding this.
