Hi,
The XI Architect studies the requirement and flow of the interface and suggest, That is What Adapter and whether it is service with party or with out party and develops or helps to develop the Functional Document.
Where as XI Developer creates the namespace and develops the interface depending upon the Functional Specification and does the tesing in the Development environment. some of the points we can say
1) Develop the Technical Specification
2) Develop the Inerfaces according to the requirement
All ABAP/Java Developments Design/Configuration
3) Test the scenario
This will help you
Thanks & Regards
