How: Add extra batch processes (to prevent deadlock in process chains)

Question: How can I increase the number of available batch processes as seen in SM50?

Reason: We have a big production system with 18 batch processes, but a light DEV and QAS system with only 4 (DEV) and 6 (QAS) batch processes. Process chains that run perfectly well in production run into a deadlock on DEV and QAS.

I would also like to know if I can set the number of used parallel processes for process chains.

Hi

Thats a basis job to increase the background process on the app server, tell em to increase the BGD processes, and they have to check the database statistics on the table index's to avoid dead locks and you should not run parallel loads to the cubes to avoid deadlocks.

I found out that with TR:RZ03 I can tweak a profile so more batch processes become available (at the expense of dialog processes).

However, if I change the active profile, and reactivate it I do not see the increased number of batch processes in SM50.
