Change of SID of a running system

Dear Experts,

We need to change the name of the SAP server to include it into the Landscape.

SAP 4.6c SP2 / AIX / Oracle .

Please give me steps to do whithout dustrubing the Database.

Are you referring to HOSTNAME or SID change?

What do you mean with "disturbing the database"? You will need to shutdown the system and do other stuff - in either case:)

I am refering to SID change. Because we have named Q and P as same SID, which are not in Landscape. Now we want to include Q also in the landscape.

The system can be shutdowned .

The easiest and cleanest way is to do a system copy, check the guides at

http://service.sap.com/systemcopy

Backup the system (database), delete everythiing and reinstall with the backup you just made.

Doing that manually will involve a lot of manual work (profiles, startup scripts etc.) and is not completely documented.
