SAP AII and RFID

Hi

We are having a scenario of integrating RFID with R3. I believe that SAP AII is to be used with RFID that would tranfer the message via XI to R3. Can i be routed to documents or links that would help me in :

1. understand why SAP AII and its links with RFID

2. where and how to start the integration

3. How to test the integration

SAP AII is a middleware. RFID Tags send data thru Device Controllers to SAP AII. SAP AII makes sense of the data, process/verify and if needed passes on the data to R/3.

To link SAP AII & R/3, we can use XI as it brings in the integration advantages of a well developed package esp for integration.

If the application is small and the data flow is minimal, one can use IDOCs to transfer data from AII to R/3.

Now from Device Controller( The one reading the Tags) passes information to SAP AII through either

1. Webservices

2. ALE

3. XML

One can use any of these above formats.

Regarding Integration:

Scouting in service market place we can find links to Integrated Outbound Delivery Scenario of AII and R/3. The document explains in detail what needs to be configured in AII , XI and R/3 to get the messages flowing.

Integration Testing:

<u>Between Device Controller and SAP AII</u>: We have a sap testing tool called Auto ID Test Tool. Proxy settings maintained in this as described in the config guide will enable you to stimulate a Test run and see Data flowing for a EPC.

<u>Between R/3 and SAP AII</u>: If preconfigured for outbound delivery and necessary SM59 settings maintained we can see a IDOC flowing through XI carrying the delivery information. One can ideally check IDOC's of types APL2, ALBO if they are configured earlier.
