Surendra,
Business Process Management (BPM) are used in XI for complex scenarios....
when ur integration server need to store messages and upon requiremnet it routes to the reciever system.
You implement integration processes when you want to define, control, and monitor complex integration processes that extend across enterprise and application boundaries. The design and processing of integration processes is also known as cross-component Business Process Management (cross-component BPM, ccBPM).
see this for more details

Hi,
BPM allows you to do more with messages than the basic message handling capabilities of the Integration Engine allow.
You can do message spliting, merging. You can also send an asynchronous message into a process to trigger a synchronous call.
you can use these blogs for BPM

hi
in simple way to say BPM helps you to send your message to multiple systems or multiple messages you can send to single receiver system. like 1:n or n:1. or n:n.

Hi,
BPM in SAP XI is generally used for stateful message processing. Having said that if you want two messages to be processed depending on certain criteria you will have to use BPM.
The places where we generally use BPM is:
1. Error handling.
2. Handling messages from multiple senders
3. Collecting of messages
4. Splitting of messages
5. Processing message based on certain criteria
6. If the receiver structure is created based on certain criteria.
Check these links to know how to and when to use bpm
