Hi,

We have problems while syncing the DCs using JDI.We guess it has something to do with the connection. Can someone give us the information about the recommended bandwidth to access the JDI server from a remote location using a VPN connection?

Hi,

elaborate little bit, where exactly you are getting problem, what error ur getting, in which step.

there is no band width as such.ru synchronising the DC's to local folder if so right click on the folder which consists of DC's and say synch.

Any how your question is brief, if you can elaborate we can help you

Hi RK,

The problem is we are actually connecting to the JDI server which is located at the client side in Europe. This connection is via VPN.We are able to successfully connect to the JDI Server and get the remote tracks. Now when we try to sync some DCs(by rt click and selecting sync) we get 'generic VFS error'. The syncing doesn't work for especially large DCs containing large contents. Then abruptly if we keep trying it just works out of blue at certain time.

What we realised is that the synching must be working when traffic is low on the network.Another workaround we have come up with is manually synching each and every file in the DC seperately and updating the .syncdb file. But still this consumes lot of time and we get 'Generic VFS Error' sometimes when we sync a particular file also.

So what we wanted to knw, was to improve connection so that synching works all the time if we know the bandwidth that may be required then we can configure it and make this thingy work.Or else is there some other reason you think the sync might be giving the above error.

Thanks

Hi Priya,

At times i have also got this kind of error. What i would suggest is :

1. Please give the fully qualified domain name of the DTR server host in NDS Preferences->Development Configuration

2. If your WAS and JDI are on higher SP level please use NDS correponding to that SP level.

Else the only thing is to open write to SAP.

Hi Priya,

To address sync related issues over a slow connection, you could try increasing the "KeepAliveTimeout" value of dispatcher where DTR Server is running. You can set this value in the properties of "HTTPProvider" service under the "Dispatcher" node in the Visual Admin tool. By default the value is 15 (seconds), and you can increase it to 300.

Additionally, it is good to increase the timeout values for DTR Client on the NW Dev Studio as well. This can be set from the preference page: under Team->DTR->ConnectionSettings (Make sure you've selected the correct "client" value in the combo on the right top corner).

If the problem persists, we recommend that you open an OSS message with more details about the "Generic VFS Error" (by attaching the client trace file, for instance).

RK/Manohar/Priya:

I think, Sidharth Deshpande suggestion can also be tested.

Like giving fully qualified domain name..checking SP levles

Priya:

and also, dod you try by increasing band width.

As you know, we prefer to synch during off-peak hours, as it is global 24/7 is a peak hour.Check your application off hours.

Hope, the issue resolved with OSS, you can also check SAPNotes for clues, some times we may need to apply a interim patch.
