Runtime processing during Webservice - XI

Hi XI Gurus,

Can anyone explain me how a message is sent from webservice to XI and what will happen in runtime? I know about all the settings in IR & ID (thanks to all the people with their blogs) but would like to know what/how will happen during a message processing.

You could completely transform the message or do nothing.

That would be determined by the settings in both the Integration Directory and Integration Repository.
