Excisable are materials on which excise duties (like BED, SED, AED, Cess, Hcess etc.) are applicable. This material are also applicable for VAT, CAT, LST etc.

Non-Excisable are the ones on which the excise dutiesduties (like BED, SED, AED, Cess, Hcess etc.) are not applicable. This materials are also applicable for VAT, CAT, LST etc.

Whether certain material is to be charged excise duty or not is decided by the excise department in India and respective dept in foreign countries. We as consultants should just know whether the material we are using is excisable or not.

Well if the company is registed with excise dept then whatever the company is receiving and selling which gets updated in RG registers. Now in case of selling finished goods the excise is applicable, in case of trading material which is being purchased from vendor and bought into plant and done some modification then that material is also exciseable material.
