When I go to create a new Development Component (type Web Dynpro) that is using a defined product/SC from the NWDI, the vendor is always sap.com (and not changeable), even though that prodcut/software component was created with a differnet vendor (i.e. companyabc.com).
Why is this? Shouldn't the vendor be that of the overall product of the DC?
You need to specify additional Name Prefixes under Name Reservation in the SLD for Name Category 'Development Component Name'. You will see a default list with 'sap.com/'. You can add your own like '<vendor>/' and remove the sap.com prefixes if you do not want to be bothered by them anymore.
Note that it takes a few minutes for these changes to take effect, you will probably also need to log off/on in NWDS.

That's exactly what I needed. Thanks! I'm more of a NW technical admin as opposed to a developer, so I'm just trying to setup an NWDI and do some test web dynpro deveopment. This was something that was bothering me because I couldn't understand where that disconnect was.
