LC10: System error

Former Member

Hi,

When I go to transaction LC10 and click "liveCache: Monitoring" the following error appears:

Name and Server: LCP - xxxxx(host name)

DBMRFC Function: DBM_EXECUTE

Command: dbm_version

Error: System Error

Error message: <blank>

This error appears randomly at times. Also in SM21, I found the following logs that might be related to the error above since it appeared at the time I accessed LC10:

Communication error, CPIC return code 020, SAP return code 456

> Conversation ID: 16684215

> CPI-C function: CMSEND(SAP)

Can anyone help me understand why this error in LC10 is appearing randomly at times? What causes this error? Any inputs will be appreciated. Thanks!

Best regards,

Kris Caldoza

Hello Kris,

-> Please review, for example, the SAP notes:

831108 Overview note on DBMRFC problems in MaxDB CCMS

990602 FAQ: CCMS for MaxDB/SAP liveCache technology

-> To get clear on the reported issue additional information needed:

What is the version of the liveCache? What is the system version?

What is the SAP basis version/SP?

Do you have the APO and liveCache running on the same server?

Please update with output of the command 'sdbregview -l' < run on the appl. & liveCache servers >.

Please update with output of the command 'xinstinfo <SID>' < run liveCache server >.

How did you solve the problem?

Did you check the active processes when the problem occurred?

Please check the application server error logs in /nst11.

-> As SAP customer you could create the OSS message, therefore we could logon

to your system & check the problems.

Thank you & best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Thanks so much for the information Natalia.

Below are the additional info you requested for:

What is the version of the liveCache?

liveCache Version: KERNEL 7.5.0 BUILD 035-123-123-944

DBM Server Version: DBMServer 7.5.0 Build 035-123-123-944

OS: SunOS

DB: Oracle

What is the system version? = SCM 4.10

What is the SAP basis version/SP? Release 640 Level 17 (SAPKB64017)

Do you have the APO and liveCache running on the same server? No

Please update with output of the command 'sdbregview -l' < run on the appl. & liveCache servers >. Unfortunately, I do not have authorization yet to run command lines at the OS.

Please update with output of the command 'xinstinfo <SID>' < run liveCache server >. - no authorization yet

How did you solve the problem? The problem is not solved as the error randomly appears when "liveCache: Monitoring" is clicked in LC10.

Did you check the active processes when the problem occurred? No unusual processes running at the time the error occurred.

Please check the application server error logs in /nst11. = Which log file (or trace file) do I need to check in relation to the error I got?

For now, the error seems to be tolerable as it does not affect the whole system operation so SAP support is not yet needed for this.

Thanks!

Regards,

Kris

Hello Kris,

-> Do you have the access to the TA /nsm49 -> dbmcli tool =>

please run '-s dbm_version' command using the dbmcli tool to see the

version of the liveCache client on the application servers.

Please run '-s dbm_getpath IndepProgPath' using dbmcli tool

in /nsm49 & let me know the results.

Run 'dbmrfc' tool in /nsm49. Did you get errors?

-> Run /nsm51 & see how many application servers do you have.

-> Could you run /ndb59 -> "test connection' for LCA & review the log.

Did you see any errors?

-> Run /n/sapapo/om13 & update with the versions of precompiler &

DBADASLIB.

SAP note : 822239 FAQ: MaxDB Interfaces

-> I will recommend run to the error in /nLC10, then go to /nst11 & review the

latest logs. Sometimes, I saw the hint errors in diff. logs.

I will check dev_rd, dev_rfcX log, dev_wX, stderrX, dev_tp, dev_xpg

-> As SAP customer you could create the OSS message, therefore we could logon

to your system & check the problems.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hi Natalia,

Thanks for your response. See answers below:

-> Do you have the access to the TA /nsm49 -> dbmcli tool =>

please run '-s dbm_version' command using the dbmcli tool to see the

version of the liveCache client on the application servers.

VERSION = 7.5.0

BUILD = DBMServer 7.5.0 Build 035-123-123-944

OS = UNIX

INSTROOT =

LOGON = True

CODE = ASCII

SWAP = normal

UNICODE = (unknown)

INSTANCE = (unknown)

SYSNAME = SunOS

Please run '-s dbm_getpath IndepProgPath' using dbmcli tool

in /nsm49 & let me know the results.

= /sapdb/programs

Run 'dbmrfc' tool in /nsm49. Did you get errors?

=> No

-> Run /nsm51 & see how many application servers do you have.

=> We only have 1 application server.

-> Could you run /ndb59 -> "test connection' for LCA & review the log.

Did you see any errors? No errors found.

-> Run /n/sapapo/om13 & update with the versions of precompiler &

DBADASLIB.

SAP note : 822239 FAQ: MaxDB Interfaces

Here are the current versions:

dbadaslib 640.00 Patch 129

Precompiler 007.004.003.042

At this point, we cannot update the versions yet as the error I experience is non-critical at the moment.

-> I will recommend run to the error in /nLC10, then go to /nst11 & review the

latest logs. Sometimes, I saw the hint errors in diff. logs.

I will check dev_rd, dev_rfcX log, dev_wX, stderrX, dev_tp, dev_xpg

=> It's really strange that as of this day, I have not encountered the error yet, and hopefully I won't in any other day.

-> As SAP customer you could create the OSS message, therefore we could logon

to your system & check the problems.

=> We'll consider creating an OSS message if the error becomes consistent and critical in LC10.

Again, thank you so much for your help about this.

Hello Kris,

-> Please collect the recommended additional information, when the problem

occurred. Please create the OSS message, if the error becomes consistent and critical.

-> I also recommend to check the active processes when the problem occurred:

on application server - 'ps -efe | grep dbmrfc'

on liveCache server - 'ps -efe | grep dbmsrv' & 'ps -efe | grep sdb'

-> Check the xserver protocol on the liveCache server located in /sapdb/data/wrk

by default.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
