PRICING and FEILDS

Dear Gurus,

I am trying to understand the concept of Header and Item level information in pricing. That is the KOMK and KOMP tables for the KOMG. For example in pricing, we populate fields such as VKORG, VTWEG, KUNNR, MATNR, SPART, etc. in the KOMK and KOMP for individual table or for both.

My question is, what is the purpose that we want to achieve by having above said fields populating both the tables (KOMK and KOMP) or in either tables. How these details are helpful in passing information for the business needs. Please explain me with example if possible. Thank you! in advance.
