Hi Gurus,
Please explain me what is the need of Releasing Production Orders.
Why we r not able to do Goods movement (MB1A OR MB31) with out releasing of Production Orders after conversion from Planned Orders.
Thanks and Regards,
Jejesh
Release of order in practical sense is you are releasing the order to shop floor to execute. For execution you need to draw the raw material to production hence MB1a is used. After the production you need to update the product inventory hence MB31 is used.
Until release, the production order is just created and no goods movement is allowed..i,e practically you will not issue any material to that production order which is not released to shop floor and can not have good receipt of that product.
This is the practical importance of release of order.
please come back if you need more explanation.

A newly created production order initially receives the status CRTD (created). The following restrictions apply to a production order that has been created:
1.Confirmations for the order cannot yet be executed.
2.Shop floor papers cannot be printed.
3.Goods movements for the order cannot yet be executed.
Releasing the order lifts these restrictions.

Hi,
Production order release is for the control executed by the MP controller(normally). After release of order, manufacturing / processing of order can be taken up for material consumption and processing.
MP controller releases the production order after checking availability of materials and capacity.

from the functionality of Production Planning,
(1) A planned order is created by MRP as per requirements(demand)
(2) planned order will be converted into Production order once production about to go. In the process, the raw materials will be steamlined and shifted from main storage location to production storage location, arrangment of PRTs, etc
(3) Once Production order is released, the actual production starts, in the sense, financial postings can be happened such as material Issue, receipt, operation confirmations, etc.
In real production world, Production order release and TECO of prodcution order are 2 key actions to be taken care by prodcution manger as between production order release and TECO of production order, any one can issue any material to the production order as production order is open.
Thanks
JK

Hi Jijesh
Orders can be in created or release status.
Until and unless materials are issued against producion order (picking) which is in released state, we cannot confirm the order.

Jejesh,
Created status with set with Business transaction control NOT to ALLOW Confirmation and Goods Movement Posting. You can check this in transaction BS22 for CRTD status.
This is basically a control for execution of orders,
