i have checked with the schema owner then only came to know which is the old sid name. say my old sid is TEP and the new which i have configured is TEQ and i tried the database copy from TEP to TEQ. now the schema owner shows me as OPS$TEPADM and SAPTEP. but actually it should be TEQ. what to do now. whether i could change the schema owner of the database.

At present as per the note 534765 when a database copy happened we can only start the database only by the oldsid. so i have configured the dbs_ora_schema as TEP and started the sap. but there is any solution to change the schema owner of the new database.

Hello Bala,

no, there is no chance to change the schema owner name after a backup / restore system copy. Renaming a user is no functionality that is provided by Oracle

With Oracle 10g you could at least rename the PSAP<sid>... tablespaces, but the schema remains unchanged.

So you only have the following options:

- Don't get confused about the different schema owner SID.

- Use other copy methods like R3load.

- Use a SID independent schema name (e.g. SAPSR3).

this will be possible in Oracle 11i... not in 10g

Hi Martin

Since it is SAP Basis 620 version we could not do this. or the latest version is not applicable. then the logic is totally will not be useful when we want to test in any circumstances.

whetether Nw2004s is it can be done ( for Knowledge purpose)

Hello Bala,

you can find the detailed step by step list in the SAP homogeneous system guide available at the provided link.

At the same location you can find a link to SAP note 543715 that discusses BW system copies.

Hello Bala,

the R3load method (based on export / import) is described in the SAP guide for homogeneous system copies that is available at

http://service.sap.com/systemcopy -> Media Library

thanks regarding your reply. i am convinced.

but if i want to retain the mirror of the same with different schema it can be done by export / import method. how to do it with steps. why itis taking more space for export and import emthod
