Classify Netweaver Sp*, Sr* versions

Hello Sap guru's, here's my burning question right from the day I hv'e encountered with Sap.

What is Netweaver SP 04,05,10,09,.... what do they represent, what's the visible difference between them, and how about the sr1, sr2 and so on.

Hi Marqus,

Every Version of SAP will have atleast min. 2 to 3 SR's(Service Release). What happens when initially a new prod. is released is, it need some bug fixing and new enhancements which is nothing but support packages/SP-Stacks will be released.After some time SAP releases a new SR.. with high SP-Stack level.So you don't need to apply more no. of patches after installation of the product.
