Changing Track Configuration

Hello,

We are planning to upgrade ESS/MSS on EP7.0 NW04s and trying to make a copy of the Production system to a Sandbox Portal with the current SP's ...for this matter can we just configure the Sandbox server as a runtime system in the Track in NWDI temporarily ...transport all the changes to it and drop it back ....?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hello Subhash,

yes this should be ok. The only step you need to be aware of is to restore the system state when you drop it back.

Hello Abdul,

Thanks for the reply. Can u please elaborate on what's the right procedure to do it...?

So you would add a runtime system and specify the sandbox server. Then after the scas have been deployed to your sandbox server, you will now remove the sandbox server from the runtime systems. At this point CMS will tell you to restore system state. You will then go to the landscape configuration and restore the system state. More details on restore the system state is on help.sap.com. If CMS does not warn you (in later sp this could happen) then you are good to go.

Hope that helps

Abdul,

Thanks for the expalantion...One more question is that when we upgrade ESS/MSS components using JSPM under NWDI control...so which system's JSPM do we need to start first so that it recognizes the modified components...?

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello Subash,

You would only start the jspm on you dev/sandbox system, the rest of the deployment will be done through NWDI.
