<sid>adm is not loading the env variables

Former Member

Hi!

I have a problem with pmpadm user. A few days ago it was working fine

but now when i change from root to pmpadm, the user is not laoding all

the sap env variables and I dont know why.

The files .sh and csh are not missing. Fisrt I watch that the

filesystem was 99% full because a core file (../SYS/work) so I delete

it and now I have 55% free but the user still doesn't working.

I don't know what else I can do, and I need to stopsap but I can't

because the env variables.

I tried to manually set the SAPSYTEMNAME but after that I get a error

that start profile is missing and I have checked and I have it.

This is my production system and like I already told you, the user was

working fine a few days ago.

Greetings,

Wadih Saad

Hi Wadih

Just to make sure: are you doing a <b>su - pmpadm</b> ?

The minus is critical, to process the env files. If you do su - then please let us know:

- are you using csh?

- which OS, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris?

- can you post an <b>ls -al</b> of the /home/pmpadm ?

Yes, I'm doing su - pmpadm

The last reply I said I were using AIX, that's false, I'm using UX. Sorry about the mistake

ok, SAPSYSTEMNAME is defined in the .sapenv file. Can you manually "load" it and verify the value:

pmpadm> . .sapenv_productivo.sh

pmpadm> echo $SAPSYSTEMNAME

No sucess

$ pwd

/home/pmpadm

$ ..sapenv_productivo.sh

ksh: ..sapenv_productivo.sh: not found

Note the BLANK between the two dots:

. .sapenv_productivo.sh

you need to put a space between the dots:
. .sapenv_productivo.sh
If this works, then you need to check:

pmpadm$ <b>hostname</b> -> should return productivo

if the .sapenv_productivo.sh is called in your .profile:
# SAP environment

if [ -f $HOME/.sapenv_`hostname`.sh ]; then

. $HOME/.sapenv_`hostname`.sh
Same results

Also tried with c shell

$ . .sapenv_productivo.sh

ksh: .sapenv_productivo.sh: not found

$ csh

% . .sapenv_productivo.csh

/usr/bin/.: Permission denied.

for csh you need to:

pmpadm> <b>source</b> .sapenv_productivo<b>.csh</b>

This is strange.

if "ls" lists the file ".sapenv_productivo.sh", then you should be able to source it.

For csh you need to

% source .sapenv_productivo.csh

please check if you are in the /home/pmpadm directory

please check if can read the .sapenv_productivo.sh, for example <b>more .sapenv_productivo.sh</b>

I could "source" it with c shell, but nothing changes as you can see:

% pwd

/home/pmpadm

% source .sapenv_productivo.csh

-l:pmpadm 5> startsap

no start profiles found

-l:pmpadm 14> pwd

/sapmnt/PMP/profile

-l:pmpadm 17> ls -l

please check if your hostname is productivo: pmpadm$ <b>hostname</b>

i bet your hostname is <b>-l</b>, because it should show up in the prompt as well :(((

somebody did a hostname -l ???

It was the hostname. I think someone change it by mistake.

Thanks a lot to everyone for your help!

Greetings from Mexico and thanks again 😄

I'm using AIX.

On root I'm using sh and in <sid>adm ksh.

In my development system I'm using the same combination and everything is ok.
