Credit Card encryption and masking are features provided by SAP for versions 4.6 and above. So please check which version you are on.

Also, do you just want to mask the number or do you need encryption as well? Encryption is a lot more complicated with the implementation of SAP CryptoLib.

Thank you Ashutosh, for your encouraging response. I am on ECC 5.0 and need to mask as well as encrypt. Could you give some inputs for this.

You will need assistance from your Basis and Security teams.

First, your Basis team needs to download and implement SAPCRYPTOLIB (see Note 662340). The note will elaborate on the other steps and settings needed.

Basically SAP will run a cipher and encrypt all the credit card numbers in your system. Thereafter, the credit card will appear masked on screen.
