Hello,
what is the diff. between assembly scrap and component scrap ?
Dear Sunil,
Along with the inputs from our friend Senthilkumar,Component scrap can be
maintained at BOM item level also.
After assigning an item, item category type, quantity, just double click on the item
number say for Eg 0010.The system takes you to Item Data Basic screen, there
you can maintain component scrap.
The following is the help given by SAP.
<u><b>Component scrap in percent</b></u>
Percentage of scrap that occurs during production of the material if the material is a component.
<u><b>Use</b></u>
Component scrap is used in material requirements planning (MRP) to determine the quantities of components required. When exploding the bill of material (BOM), the system increases the required quantities of the components by the calculated scrap quantity.
<b><u>Example</u></b>
Required quantity 200 pieces
Component scrap 10%
Scrap quantity 20 pieces
Therefore, 220 pieces are required.
For examples of calculation in connection with the indicator for net scrap, see the documentation for this indicator.
<b><u>Dependencies</u></b>
If there is also assembly scrap for a higher-level assembly, the system adds together the two types of scrap.
If component scrap has been entered in the BOM, this value applies. Otherwise, the value specified in the material master record is used.
Apart from Assembly scrap & Component scrap,we can maintain operation scrap
here.

Hi,
Assembly scrap:
Maintain this % in mrp 1 view for Fert item.
Ex:
FERT requirement is 100 nos, assembly scrap is 10 %.When we run mrp instead of 100 nos we get a planned order for 110 nos, & the dep. req is also created for 110. nos.
Component scrap
For Halb item maintain the comp. scrap % in mrp 4 view.
Eg: FERT requirement is 100 nos, Component scrap is 10 %
When mrp is run dependent requirement is increased by 10% ie for 110 nos.
Regards,
Senthilkumar
