HI,

As already explained by some one MD01 is exceuted to run MRP in foreground and it can go to dump incase of huge data.

However incase of MDBT, we can create variants for diffrtent plants or diffrent selection criteria and then schedule the jobs at the time of our convenience.

Since MDBT is run background, the system levels it s resouces on its Own. there will not any dump due to this.

Usually different planners will handle different sets of materials based on Material type, Materila Group or any other selction.

in such cases it would be beneficial to use MDBT rather than using MD01.

You can take this way. MD01 uses report RMMRP000 for running MRP and MDBT is the tool given by SAP to schedule report RMMRP000. YOu are not required to use SE 38 for background scheduling. Just one additional tool instead of going to SE38....

Hi Jejesh

MD01 is foregorund MRP run for total Plant , here you can monitor MRP run but it will be slow

MDBT is background MRP and you can schedule your MRP run even at nite and it executes faster

Hi jejesh yal

Main difference is MD01 cannot be scheduled as background job.System will not allow you to use MD01 to schedule MD01 in background.

that is the reason we have to use MDBT to schedule MRP jobs.

Thanks

Hello, the program running behind these two transactions is the same, but using the background job would give some advantages when dealing with large quantities of data (materials, requirements, Bom Levels, etc.) :

- running in background allows the system to manage or balance its resources .

- running MD01 in the previous condition can give you a dump in the program (normally there is a maximum time for programs running interactively)

- you can schedule a background job to run every night at 01.00 AM, bothering if you have to do it with the MD01 (unless you are in the night shift!)
