Hi,

In make to order scenario you can use strategy group 20 in the mrp 3 view of the material master. So when a sale order is created the requirement is displayed in Md04 transaction. Then after mrp run you will get planned orders & this is processed further into prod. orders & confirm, GR takes place.

In configure to order, you can use strategy group 25. You have to create characteristics, class,Super BOM,Obj. dependencies etc. So when you create a sale order for Eg: For a configurable product Car, you can have options as the Engine 1000cc,1500cc,2000cc etc, Colour as Blue,Black etc.So during the sale order creation you select the available options & then based on this selection the appropriate material from the BOM is chosen for further processing.

Regards,
