Analyzing Ph. Inventory results for an open store

Hello,

We are trying to build a system which will enable our convenience stores (open 24/7) to analyze stock differences . The sales data should update the R/3 inventory by IDOCS via POS DM. Inventory management should be done on R/3 using SRS (or other GUI on top of standard SAP)

Our issue is how to give the store operator the system stock balance at the minute of counting ? (In near real time ), because the R/3 will never have an updated view of the stock online.

We found in SAP Help a solution for Support for Physical Inventories in Open Stores under the documentation of Physical Inventory: Processing Store Count Data , but it does not relate to POS DM.

We will be happy to share experience with anybody who implemented a similar solution.

Thank you in advance

Avital

Dear ISRetail PAZ,

At the time of creation of Physical Inventory document you can set a Posting Block to the document at the header level. This will ensure that no movements will happen for the articles in the document. This posting block will ensure that the when POSDM is sending the sales data (goods movement - WPUWBW) IDOC to R/3 it will fail with error as " Posting block for the article through Physical Inventory".

This posting block gets automatically removed after the posting of Physical Inventory document. Alternatively you can also remove this posting block manually through the header level of document after the count posting/Analysis is done before the posting of Physical Inventory document.

The IDOC which has failed coming from POSDM to R/3 can be re-processed and sent again after the posting block is removed.

I hope this answers your question.

Regards,

Vinod Kapote.
