HowTo non-SAP to XI

Former Member

Hi,

can someone provide me with <b>detailed</b> step-by-step solution for receiving IDoc from non-SAP-System.

Especially the configuration part would be really interesting, this means IB Configuration and the RFC-part, containing explanation on how to configure RFC-Dest to be used by an external program vin TCP/IP.

Well its a system which can produce native IDoc via program. the program should send data to Integration Engine for routing it to target System.

normally this program pointed directly to RFC-Destination of type TCP/IP where the program ID was the one for the sending program. I created in SM50 zhis destination and connection works. But when sending, nothing appears in Intergation Engine!

Now there is XI and we want to configure it. But how?!

Hi,

XI can only receive Idoc via standard adapters from Non SAP system ,You can generate XML file of Idoc which can be polled by XI's file adapter.

Thanks,

Ok, when you say so how to talk with the Adapter Engine via external program?!

Ur Idoc-xml file will be compatible to the file adapter. So to talk with adapter engine (file adapter), u have to just place ur file in FTP or XI file system.

Well actually Xi should be able to get directly the IDoc-XML via IDoc-Adapter.

Why should we use this kind of legacy-communication if the option is existing.

No one ever did this?!

Hi Carsten,

I haven't done this from legacy but instead of sending IDocs via standard ALE from R/3 to PI I have been doing this via the plain-HTTP adapter. I guess, this should also be possible in your scenario. Maybe not without modifications on the sender side, but still positive that it can be done.

Details on the setup can be found here:

Hi Steffen,

well i also thought about this possibility but we told the client that it is possible to talk directly with IDoc-Adapter. Maybe we have to go with HTTP or with IDoc-XML given with file-adapter.
