definition of extractor

Hi there!

Can anybody give me a defintion of the term extractor in SAP Netweaver BI 7.0, what does it mean exactly?

I mean it´s no SAP-Object like a DataSource.

Does an extractor describe the whole process of extracting data from a SAP source system?

Hi Philipp,

Extractor is a Generic term used for lot of Objects involved in tranferring data from Source System to Target System. It does not have any physical or logical existence in the system itself but all Objects which combine and form an extractor like Extraction program, Extracture Structure etc do exsists..

It defines all the process/methods involved in extracting data specific to a particualar or combination of Application Areas.

Like LO Extractor - All Logistics Applications

FI Extractor etc
