Hi friends,
I was installing ecc6.0(abap+java) on windows with 120 + 120 GB HD. while installing database instance it is showing me error that not enough space. in inst guides they said 90 GB is enough for the database instance. while installing database instance it is asking for 190 GB in one partition. Is there any way that i can reduce the size of the table space before installing ?
thank you,
-sandeep
Hi Sandeep,
If you are installing IDES ECC 6.0 SR1 then you need database sizes as follows:
ORACLE: 200 GB
MaxDB: 180 GB
MSSQL: 150 GB etc.
If you are installing IDES ECC 6.0 SR2 then you need database sizes as follows
ORACLE: 220 GB
MaxDB: 220 GB
MSSQL: 160 GB
Award points if helpful

Umesh

Hi matt,
I installed just ECC with abap+java, but it is still showing the same error.

Hi Sandeep,
It is, for whatever reason, like the installation guide says
"the requirements checklists tables...provide the minimum requirements for SAP system installations. However, these tables do not take account of customer data. Depending on the amount of data involved, the requirements might change."
So, if the prerequisite checker says you need more, than that is what you need.

Matt
Hi Matt,
what do u mean by installing other components?

Hi Sandeep,
I do not mean front-end components. I mean software units. For example, see page vii:
SAP ERP 2005 with the following software unit(s):
ERP Biller Direct (BD)
ERP Business Packages (BP-ERP)
ERP Learning Solution Content Player (LSOCP)
ERP Extended E-Selling Components (XECO)
ERP Self Services (XSS)
In addition you can install the following NetWeaver 2004s usage
types:
NetWeaver ABAP Application Server (AS-ABAP)
NetWeaver Java Application Server (AS-Java)
NetWeaver Business Intelligence Java Components (BI)
NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (DI)
NetWeaver Enterprise Portal (EP)
NetWeaver Mobile Infrastructure (MI)
NetWeaver Process Integration (PI)
Of the above list, what are you installing?
Best Regards,
Matt
Hi matt,
yes it says 78 GB.
when I run the prerequisite checker, it is showing 195 GB. I have two harddidks 120+120. total available space is 200GB.
so i proceeded with the installation, then it is showing error : space not available in C: space needed , space available : 190123, 103436.
i distributed sapdata1 to 4 in C and D. still iam getting the same error.
thanks,
sandeep.

Hi Sandeep,
Please see the information at the top of page 30:
###
In addition, we recommend you to also consult the requirements checklists tables, which provide the <b>minimum</b> requirements for SAP system installations. However, these tables do not take account of customer data. Depending on the amount of data involved, the requirements might change.

Apparently, as the Prerequisite Checker has shown you, your installation requires more than the minimum. Are there other components that you are installing?
Best Regards,
Matt
Hi Sandeep,
Can you please tell me which Installation Guide you are referring to? Thanks.

Matt

Hi Sandeep,
Interesting. I have just looked at Section 2.2.1.3 Requirements Checklist for the Database Instance:
Minimum disk space:
l Oracle database software: 2 GB
l SAP system (not including virtual memory):
78 GB
l 4.3 GB of temporary disk space for every required installation DVD you
have to copy to a local hard disk.
So I'm not sure where you got 90 GB, but nonetheless it says it's way less then the 190 GB it is asking you for.
Did you run the Prerequisite Checker (Section 2.2.1.1)?
Best Regards,
Matt
