SAP_BASIS Release upgrade (urgent)

Dear Experts,

We want to upgrade the SAP BASIS release from 620 to 640 .

We presently have the R/3 4.7 Database: SQL server 2000 Kernel 620.

Kindly suggest. whether we can upgrade the BASIS release from 620 to 640 and what are the impacts of the Support pack(SAPBASIS 640 - 009)

Hello Kishore,

R/3 4.7 doesnot support SAP_Basis 640. Basis release 620 is the maximum one for 4.7- With 640 Netweaver/WAS start.

You can show Product Availability Matrix to your Boss .

In your case You have to upgrade to SAP ECC 5.0 to have SAP BASIS 6.40 . You can show the Basis Release of SAP ECC 5.0 and SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE .

Hi Soma,

Are you trying to upgrade kernel? yes you can move to 640 kernel and you will be applying SAPKB620*** patches only. Try to be clear.
