XMII Technical architecture

Hi

1.

I know that xmii 11.5 running on Microsoft IIS.

Then what is Servlet Exec AS service. Is XMII is the java application or web application running on IIS??

2. What is XMII 12.0 Architecture??

Is that webdynpro/ jsp,servle application running on WAS 2004s??

Please clarify me.

1. IIS + ServletExec AS = xMII 11.5

2. NetWeaver WebAS (java stack only) = xMII 12.0

I understand the big picture.

1 But What is ServletExec AS?? On which server/ Runtime that is running??

2.How about XMII12.O?? Is that webynpro application running on WAS like ESS/MSS or That it self a runtime like webdynpro??

(May be this is dumb question but i have a doubt.)

ServletExec is a java web application server ( http://www.newatlanta.com/products/servletexec/index.jsp ) and this requires IIS in xMII 11.5. SAP xMII then runs in an out of process java.exe (not in-process with the www service). There is an adapter dll that is hooked into IIS (see the virtual script directory inside IIS).

In version 12.0 xMII (still a pure java application - and does not use webdynpro) the application runs on WebAS.
